Statement

Inspired by women artists, like Louise Bourgeois, Kiki Smith, and Helen Frankenthaler, Jan Aiello's work draws from natural forms to reflect the ever-regenerative feminine. Her lived experience as a mother and Breast Cancer survivor informs her work. The most vulnerable parts of nature mirror our strength and will-- the whole competing with its parts--engaging, repelling and ultimately regenerating. These small things draw metaphors to both the tangible and metaphysical, inviting us to look deeper.
